Would you like a quick hack to clear your inbox with remarkable ease?

Here you go!

Note: the example I’m showing is Gmail. Other email service providers tend to have similar options.

  1. Find the little square box on the top left of your email screen circled in red below.
  2. Click the little down arrow to the right of the box, and select “All” or “Unstarred” if, like me, you have starred material you don’t want to delete. That automatically checks the entire category you’ve selected. Don’t worry! You’re not deleting yet.
  3. Run your eye down the list of emails. Not sure if you want to delete? Click open the email and scan it. Want to delete? Move on. Want more time to read? Uncheck and move on.inbox
  4.  Once you’ve unchecked any items you don’t want to be deleted, click the “trash” icon at the top of your screen. You’ve just deleted all checked items in your inbox. Presto!  🙂

If you regret deleting something, no problem! Go into “Trash” and move the email back to safety in your inbox.

I think you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can accomplish this task and move on to living your life! 🙂

And if you combine frequently using this approach with reasonably diligent unsubscribing—the things you never read that you always delete anyway—taming your inbox will get easier and easier.

Yay!

Love,
Jo

P.S. I’m not sure, but I think I picked this up from Courtney Carver’s bemorewithless.com universe of great ideas for simplifying life. #gratitude
