I’ve been sharing this book so much lately that it dawned on me it would be a valuable one to share with you.
The title speaks volumes. Do you feel drawn to it? Do you imagine it will provide lots of practical, effective guidance for filling a major void in your self-care skills and help you substantially improve your life and relationships?
You got it.
I had therapy for years, which was transformative and which I loved. But I somehow missed learning about codependency and wish I hadn’t!
Nedra Glover Tawab says, “In codependent relationships, we believe we must help people avoid consequences, saving them from unpleasant experiences. We think it’s our role to protect them. But rather than protect, we enable the other person to continue their unhealthy behavior. We see the person we’re enabling as helpless and unable to take care of themselves without us.”
If you’re aware that you’re not good at boundaries for whatever reason and are alert to the harm it’s doing to you and perhaps to others, don’t miss this book.
Thank you to Maria Morck for sharing this with me when I needed it!
